PROVISIONAL REGULATIONS FOR THE ISSUE OF DENA TI OMALISATI
ION CERTIFICATES. DATED MARCH 1928.
Certificates of denati cnalisation will be issued by the Canton
Bureau for Foreign Affairs.
The Canton Bureau for Foreign Affairs will notify the Consular
Body at each port that in cases where Chinese claiming foreign
nationality apply for registration at consulates, such regis-
tration should be refused unless the applicant holds a certi-
ficate of denationalisation.
Chinese who have obtained certificates of denationalisation may
only carry on trade and purchase land in the treaty ports. Those
who already own land in the interior must sell it forthwith,
so as to avoid their being able to avail themselves of the spe-
cial privileges under the treaties, with resultent complicɛ-
tions.
The Canton Bureau for Foreign Affairs will send in to the Pro-
vincial Government each month a list of persons who have obtain-
ed certificates of denationalisation, for circulation to the
various departments.
Where applications for denationalisation are received by the
Bureaux for Foreign Affairs at Ch'aochow, Hoifung, Kiungchow,
Chingchow, Yamehow, Limahow and Leichow, auch applications
should be forwarded to the Canton Bureau for Foreign Affairs,
which will issue the certificates, thus preserving oo-ordination.
The Consula in the various porta may also forward such appli
cations on behalf of the persons concerned.
The procedure laid down in these regulations will apply to the
issue of certificates of denationalisation in Kwangɛi province.
These regulations will come into force from the date of their
approval by the Canton Branch Political Council.
